If you're a follower of mine on Facebook or Instagram, you might be seeing some posts about the art fair that had happened few weeks ago.

I was invited to participate in the CVT-X Art Fair last November 13. This event comes with some of the in-demand traditional and modern artists. Also, it's a good news to all artsy peeps in my hometown since this event was held in the south. They didn't have to go to the metro to participate in events just as this one.

I came just in time in the event so I took a moment and lurked around the area. And guess what? I found these pretty little artworks in digital, traditional, and mixed media format. FYI, these artworks were made by some of the artists in south. So proud!! These are my favorites, by the way.

The art demos and art talks were held in Buku-Buku Kafe's Alfresco area. The space is just enough for the number of participants. There's also an art table wherein everyone can create their artwork (and even print it!).

I was with my co-bloggers the entire day. I'm so happy to meet new friends who share the same interest with me. We also get to have a private group talk with the person behind Cong TV.

At the end of the day, I had a chance to join the watercolor workshop. I was surprised that Ms. Jess (Owner, Buku-Buku Kafe) reserved me a slot. So much love!!

Ok let's talk about the workshop. In case you're not aware, Buku-Buku Kafe usually hosts creative workshops in their place. You can follow their social media accounts for updates.

So if you would ask me how was the workshop, I'd answer it was fun but doesn't guarantee zero-stress especially if you really want to learn from the workshop. It's fun because you'd get to meet different people who have the same interest with you. If you really want to get the best out of it, I'd suggest you initiate a conversation with your teacher and your co-students. In this way you learn and at the same time you create connection with them.

One thing I realized from this workshop is that not everything can be learned by just merely reading the book or watching videos on Youtube. Some things require failures and frustrations before you master it. Since this workshop is skill-based, it's really important that you practice it. And from this workshop, you get to have real-time feedback from your teacher about the things that you need to improve.

So to end this post, I'd like to congratulate the organizers behind this wonderful event: The Ai Project and Buku-Buku Kafe. Looking forward to seeing you in the next season of CVT-X. Keep inspiring others!!

status hair salon

It's been months since I last visited a salon. My short hair turned medium in length and my hair color has already faded. It gets harder to maintain because it's dry and somewhat frizzy. That's when I decided to go (for the first time) to Status Hair SalonCavite for a hair makeover.

Status Hair Salon specializes in haircut, hair color, and hair treatment since 2011. They offer wide array of hair and beauty services for trendy and hip individuals. Status Salon is proven and recommended by various bloggers and TV personalities.

It was in Robinsons Galleria where the owners, Robina and Roseann Ko, set up the first Status Hair Salon and then subsequently acquired branches in Quezon City. Now they are trying to tap into a new market. Earlier this year, Status Hair Salon opened a branch in Imus, Cavite. It was the first branch in whole Cavite area. Status Hair SalonCavite operates with three (3) stylists who are experts in hair styling and hair care. Right now the brand, Status Hair Salon, has hundreds and hundreds of satisfied customers.

My first Status Hair Salon experience

This was my first Status Hair Salon experience and I was impressed with the staffs. They are very customer oriented and friendly. Sir Jin was assigned to be my stylist for the day. We talked about a lot of things including his experience in the industry. In his 15 years of service, he had a chance to handle some TV personalities such as Melanie Marquez and also had sidelines on concerts. He previously worked in a salon in Makati. But right now, he is a full time hairstylist at Status Hair SalonCavite.

On that day, I intended to have a layered haircut and balayage highlights. As much as possible, I want it to be fairly light cos (in my opinon) bright blonde colors don't blend well with my skin color. At first I was hesitant but Sir Jin guided me all throughout.

Now, here's the result of my haircut and balayage highlights.

Sir Jin applied a shade of brown and foil highlights. Unfortunately, the color is not apparent on cam. But if you come to see it personally, it's medium brown in color.
Here's how the accent looks like. Note: This is a saturated picture. But this one is pretty much closer to the current tone of my hair than the previous one.

Final words!

Champions Sports Bar and Restaurant Review

Few weeks ago, My friends and I were invited by Champions to experience their newly opened restobar in Cavite. It was indeed an amazing food trip!

Ms. Bernie Woolley and Chef Ynan Del Rosario

Champions Sports Bar and Restaurant is a western inspired cuisine from the concept of a couple Ms. Bernie and Mr. Earl Woolley who are also golfers. Champions was established earlier this year and operating for almost 4 months now.

We were lucky to have a short talk with Mr. Earl. He introduced to us his "continuity" belief that in order to have a good business, the quality of products must be established first. He even showed to us their imported meat products. After that, we toured the area to check out other facilities.

Food for champs, made by champs

Cheesy Chilly Beef Nachos

Champions served us the best meals, from appetizers to soup, salad, main dish, and desserts.

Here are some of the meals we tasted during the day. I'd say, I'd definitely come back for these!

Appetizer + Salad

  • Caesar Salad + Grilled Chicken (who loves veggies!!)
  • Cheesy Chili Beef Nachos
Soup
  • Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup
Main Course
  • Baby Back Ribs (I can eat this the whole day!)
  • Norwegian Salmon + Beurre Rouge Sauce
  • Angus Beef Tenderloin with Mashed Potato (worth 1800 Php but taste is priceless!)
Desserts

  • Blueberry Cheese Cake (80% cheese, promise!)
  • Classic Tiramisu
  • Mango Crepe with Vanilla Ice cream + Caramel Sauce (my favorite, to be honest!)
You can also check out the full menu on their website.

Angus Beef Tenderloin with Mashed Potato + Grilled Vegetables

One thing I like about Champions is variety. There are lots of delicious meals you can choose from. They also have set meals that are available for a specific period from 11AM-3PM. For as low as 300Php, you'll have stir fried beef, steamed rice, soup, salad, and dessert (Set A). The food varies depending on which set. However, any kind of discounts are not valid for set meals.

Service

The staffs are very accommodating and friendly. They also have the Lenovo DigiMenu. It's where you can browse the foods available as well as the set meals, and then you can process your order from there.

Price

They've got best meals at reasonable rates. The food is definitely worth the price since it takes 20-30 ingredients to prepare one dish (according to Chef Ynan). They also have karaoke package (with foods and drinks) worth 2000 Php.

Place

Champions is located at Metrosouth Subd., Hollywood St., Brgy. Manggahan, General Trias, Cavite. If you are coming from SM DasmariƱas, it will only take a short ride. But since this is located inside the subdivision, I suggest that you use Google Map or Waze so you can easily get to the place.

Ambiance

Draft Beer

Sports Memorabilia

I feels like home when you're at Champions. Imagine you're in an air-conditioned place while sitting in a sofa and you're watching live sports on TV. It's so relaxing. It's also a place for sports enthusiasts, you'll get to see many different sports memorabilia around the place.

Facilities

Smoking Area

Aside from the restobar, they have smoking area outside. They also have two (2) karaoke rooms that's fit for, I think, 6-8 people. The hotel rooms, gym, billiard rooms, and swimming pool are currently under construction.

Final words

Champions Restobar aims to have the best dining experience for their customers. There is so much to discover here. Champions is really made for the whole family and barkada.

4.8 of 5  is my over-all rating. That's almost perfect. But as a customer, I want a place that I can easily travel. But overall, I am truly satisfied with the food, service, and rates.

15 illustrations about modern society by jean jullien

Jean Jullien is a popular French artist based in London. His artworks depict the small and big issues of modern society. He is a great observant. That's probably one of his strengths as an illustrator.

His illustrations are influential because it communicates to society. Although the drawing skills were simple, the ideas behind were superb. You can derive different ideas from just a simple drawing. For instance, his drawing of Eiffel Tower peace symbol during the terrorist attack in Paris in 2014. It became a tool to unite people during that time. It's very symbolic and now part of the history.

"Peace for Paris" by Jean Jullien

Most of Jullien's artworks are greatly influenced by people in the community, their social and asocial behaviors. His drawings are cartoon-like, hence it's full of colors and outlines. Also, his drawings accurately characterize how society behave and communicate with each other. There is harmony between humor and realism in his drawings. And I think that's what makes his art pieces really impressive.

Take a look at some of his artworks and try to interpret each as you go through.
